EEOC Nominee: Kalpana Kotagal

Kalpana Kotagal is an attorney with the firm Cohen Milstein, focusing on employment law and specifically diversity, equity, and inclusion.  Kotagal was also a member of the advisory committee of the “People’s Parity Project.”  During her confirmation hearing on May 10, 2022, it was revealed the nominee previously retweeted a post that criticized employers that advocated against unionization.

If confirmed, Kotagal would give Democrats a majority at the EEOC later this year.

Nomination Status: Kalpana Kotagal was confirmed to be a member of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission on July 13, 2023, by a vote of 49-47.
