Nomination announced: July 7, 2021

Jose Javier Rodriguez is a partner with the law firm Sugarman and Susskind and served in the Florida Senate and House of Representatives. As a lawyer, Rodriguez has represented labor unions, such as the International Longshoremen’s Association.  The Employment and Training Administration at the Department of Labor administers federal job training programs and the federal government’s involvement with state unemployment insurance programs.

Nomination Status:  Joe Javier Rodriguez’s nomination to be the Department of Labor’s Assistant Secretary for Employment and Training was advanced by the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee on March 28, 2023, by a vote of 11-10.
