DOL Deputy Secretary of Labor: Keith Sonderling
Keith Sonderling is the Deputy Secretary of Labor, confirmed on March 10, 2025. He previously served as a Commissioner of the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (2020-2024) and held leadership roles in the Department of Labor’s Wage and Hour Division during President Trump’s first term. During his tenure at the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Sonderling’s focus included the intersection of artificial intelligence and employment practices. He also emphasized voluntary compliance initiatives for employers and addressed emerging workplace issues, such as the rights of independent contractors and the impact of technology on employment. Before transitioning to public service, Sonderling practiced law in the private sector in Florida, specializing in labor and employment law.
Nomination Status: On March 12, 2025, the U.S. Senate confirmed Keith Sonderling as the Deputy Secretary of Labor by a vote of 53–46.
