3 production unions, Post-Gazette reach strike settlement
March 18, 2025 // The newspaper’s mailers and typographical workers, represented by the Communications Workers of America, and the pressmen, represented by the Teamsters, will receive 26 weeks of severance pay, plus additional compensation for staff who were paid on a commission basis. In February, a federal judge in Pittsburgh denied an emergency injunction sought by the National Labor Relations Board on behalf of the three unions. The injunction had asked the court to force the newspaper back to the bargaining table and require that striking workers be reimbursed for future medical expenses.
Lambeau Field workers win first union contract
November 7, 2024 // The beer vendors are employed by Delaware North, the food and beverage provider for the stadium. The Milwaukee Area Service & Hospitality Workers Union, or MASH, represents more than 90 people who serve beer and other beverages at Lambeau. The union said 88 percent of the vendors voted to approve a tentative three-year collective bargaining agreement that was negotiated with Delaware North.
Uber, Lyft, DoorDash drivers to strike on Valentine’s Day for fair pay
February 14, 2024 // Thousands of drivers for ride-sharing platforms Uber (UBER.N), opens new tab, Lyft (LYFT.O), opens new tab and food delivery app DoorDash (DASH.O), opens new tab are expected to go on strike across the United States on Valentine's Day for fair pay, drivers' groups said on Monday. The demonstrations are set to take place about a week after Lyft said it would guarantee weekly earnings for drivers, a first in the U.S. ride-hailing industry as it looks to lure more drivers to its platform.
