    UAW’s Fain says strike will cripple Stellantis

    November 3, 2024 // Kevin Gotinsky, who heads the UAW’s Stellantis Department, described the Local 1166 vote as a low-turnout election, with about 61% voting in favor. He said the union is confident it can get “everybody moving together” going forward, with a more aligned approach over the next three months. More than a dozen locals have withdrawn grievances filed as part of the process, according to the company, but the union can refile them.     Texas SUV plant added to UAW strike

    October 24, 2023 // Some 5,000 workers at GM's plant in Arlington, Texas, joined the strike Tuesday. That halts production on several large SUVs: the Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon and Cadillac Escalade. It's the second straight day the union has expanded the strike. On Monday it added Stellantis' Ram 1500 pickup plant in Sterling Heights, Michigan, to the work stoppage. Context: It also comes the same day as GM released its third-quarter earnings report. The company reported a third-quarter profit of $3.1 billion but said the strike has already cost the company $800 million, including $600 million since the earnings period ended.

    Stellantis “outraged” after UAW expands strike to Ram 1500 truck plant

    October 24, 2023 // Stellantis said in a statement Monday afternoon it was "outraged" at the union's decision after the company's latest offer, which included a 23% wage increase. "Our very strong offer would address member demands and provide immediate financial gains for our employees," the company said. "Instead, the UAW has decided to cause further harm to the entire automotive industry as well as our local, state and national economies.
