    Union employees to vote on new VTA contract proposal months after transit strike

    June 6, 2025 // In March, a county judge had ended a historic, multi-week strike - demanding the employees back to work. Now almost three months of negotiations later, VTA spokesperson Stacey Hendler Ross says a new proposal is on the table. "VTA has made a significantly different proposal this time with a cumulative increase in wages of 14.5% over four years," Hendler Ross said. "So that's 4%, 3.5%, 3% and 4%."

The Martz workers say they are grossly underpaid compared to their other transit counterparts. By how much we don’t know. Picketing wrapped up early on Thursday but said they’ll be back Friday morning at 4 a.m.

    VTA strike continues for 3rd week after union votes down latest proposal

    March 25, 2025 // "By a vote of 188 yes, to 919 no," said ATU Local 265 president Raj Singh. The VTA's latest proposal offered an 11% pay increase over a three-year contract. But ATU leadership told us that the transit agency had added things into the contract involving attendance and overtime policies. Two issues the union thought had been previously resolved.
