San Francisco Teachers Take Key Step Toward Strike

Last year, it slashed $114 million in annual expenses through hundreds of early retirement buyouts, the implementation of a strict staffing model in schools and administrative position reductions. This year, it will need to make another $48 million in cuts, which Superintendent Maria Su has indicated could be even more challenging.
Following layoff announcements, Sharp medical office workers unionize
July 7, 2025 // The election took place by mail from June 9 to 30 to join the union, which represents 120,000 healthcare workers across California. The medical office workers at all six offices known as SharpCare in Coronado, Chula Vista, La Mesa, San Diego, Santee and Spring Valley join 6,000 Sharp workers across the region — including more than 650 earlier this year.
Stop & Shop and warehouse union reach tentative contract agreement
March 2, 2025 // A strike involving Stop & Shop supermarkets was averted Friday with a tentative agreement. Stop & Shop and Teamsters Local 25 released a joint statement: "Teamsters Local 25 and Stop & Shop today reached a tentative agreement on a new, six-year contract for associates at Stop & Shop’s Freetown distribution center. As a result, and pending ratification, the Freetown distribution center will continue operations, preserving more than 900 union jobs.
