    Farm Aid 40 Will Go on as Planned Following Labor Strike Resolution

    September 16, 2025 // Farm Aid has an epic event planned for its 40th anniversary. Artists like Margo Price, Dave Matthews, Billy Strings, and Sierra Ferrell will take the stage Sept. 20 at the University of Minnesota’s Huntington Bank Stadium in Minneapolis. Organized in 1985 by Willie Nelson, Neil Young, and John Mellencamp, the benefit concert raises both awareness and funds for struggling family farmers in the United States. Unfortunately, the event’s status looked unclear earlier this week following an ongoing union strike at several University of Minnesota campuses. Fortunately, Farm Aid organizers took to Instagram Saturday (Sept. 13) with good news.

    University of Minnesota workers walk off the job, services disrupted

    September 9, 2025 // Teamsters Local 320 started striking Monday at 10 p.m. on Morris and Crookston campuses, followed by Duluth and then Twin Cities at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.

    MINNESOTA: 1,400 U of M workers prepared to strike as students move in

    August 18, 2025 // If an agreement is not reached by Tuesday at midnight, a spokesperson for Teamsters Local 320 said workers could go on strike on Wednesday in Duluth and then on Monday in the Twin Cities, just in time for new students to move in on campus.

    MINNESOTA: Union representing U of M service workers files strike notice

    August 10, 2025 // "The University is not immune to those challenges. The University has plans in place should a strike occur and is fully committed to minimizing any disruption this action might cause for our students, faculty, staff, and community." If workers walk off the job, enhanced strike benefits were approved by the union, including $1,000 a week, which reportedly exceeds the weekly pay of some workers across the university system.

    Forest Lake bus drivers union files strike notice

    April 24, 2023 // Bus drivers and aides declined a contract offer from the school district on Friday and authorized Teamsters Local 320 to file its strike with the Minnesota Bureau of Mediation Services. The union said its members rejected the offer due to many unfilled driver positions resulting in the combining or canceling of routes, excessive wait times for students and unpaid hours between routes.

Aldes said some union workers are still making less than $16 an hour. U of M also recently offered refunds to students with meal plans because staffing issues have led to limited meal options and dining hall hours being cut.

It’s an average increase of more than 5 percent, bringing the average pay to nearly $21.67 an hour.
