    NLRB General Counsel Jennifer Abruzzo Issues Memo on Captive Audience and Other Mandatory Meetings

    April 7, 2022 // National Labor Relations Board General Counsel Jennifer Abruzzo issued a memorandum to all Field offices announcing that she will ask the Board to find mandatory meetings in which employees are forced to listen to employer speech concerning the exercise of their statutory labor rights, including captive audience meetings, a violation of the National Labor Relations Act (NLRA).

    Politics and Prose Bookstore Employees Move To Unionize

    December 14, 2021 // If successful, Politics and Prose would become what appears to be the only bookstore in the District with a unionized workforce. Of more than 100 total employees at the brand’s three locations, organizers believe that 55 will be eligible for the union. Last week, owners said they wouldn’t recognize the union until a majority of staff voted in a formal election, which some believe buys management time to disparage unionizing.
