Workers at Children’s Hospital Oakland Extend Strike Into Second Week
June 25, 2025 // In April, 98% of union members voted against integrating with UCSF, according to NUHW, which represents some 1,300 workers at the hospital. The union, which argues that the takeover plan is in violation of its contracts with the hospital, filed a motion to force arbitration as part of a last-ditch effort to block the move. A court hearing on the motion is scheduled for Thursday, just over a week before the transition is set to take effect, on July 6.
Fired dancers, protesters picket Dallas Black Dance Theatre’s season opener
October 15, 2024 // Dozens of protesters came out on Friday from labor organizations including the Dallas AFL-CIO, Actors’ Equity, Young Active Labor Leaders and American Federation of Musicians. Those picketing also passed out flyers explaining what happened to the fired dancers. AGMA, along with the fired dancers and community members, said they will picket at every DBDT performance this season. They picketed at the DanceAfrica Festival and Marketplace at Klyde Warren Park on Saturday.

‘Scabby the Rat’ Was Spotted Outside NEA Headquarters
August 13, 2024 // “To best protect the interests of our members, the Association, and our staff, we have made the difficult decision to institute a protective lockout,” an NEA spokesperson reportedly stated at the time. Since then, locked-out union staff has protested outside of union headquarters on a regular basis.

December 29, 2022 // The contract covering 192 employees represented by Local 135 includes pay increases, $6,000 signing bonuses, improved bonuses and financial incentives for attendance, and voluntary overtime. Employees will start returning to work Jan. 3, 2023. They will get holiday pay for Christmas and New Year's Day.
