Worker protests at airports spread nationwide over staffing and pay
September 27, 2022 // Cashiers, baristas, bartenders, cooks and lounge attendants at San Francisco International Airport launched an open-ended strike Monday over staffing levels and wages, shutting down most of one of the nation’s busiest airport’s food concessions. Flight attendants at United and Southwest airlines on Tuesday are expected to demonstrate at 21 airports around the United States, including Guam, as well as in London, to draw attention to workplace problems made worse by understaffing.
Hundreds on Strike at Sequoia Hospital Demanding New Contract
July 20, 2022 // Nurses assistants, aides, surgical technologists, respiratory therapists, cooks and others will take part in the demonstration, according to the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees Local 829. Sequoia Hospital is owned by Dignity Health. Contract negotiations are on-going. November 21, 2021 // Housekeepers, bartenders, food service staff, cooks, laundry attendants, dishwashers and bellmen all walked off the job to picket outside the Wyndham Historic District Hotel in Old City. The staff cite numerous concerns, from low pay to staffing.
