Warn workers before unions persuade them to join underwater pension funds
June 13, 2024 // Unions know their pension plans are in serious trouble. The Teamsters have already begged the Biden administration for a $36 billion bailout. At least $127 million of that money went to about 3,500 dead recipients, which was returned only after Sen. Cassidy, Louisiana Republican, investigated the “wrongfully obtained funds.” Yet other union pension plans are still on the road to failure, and no amount of taxpayer money can paper over the underlying challenges they face.

December 27, 2023 // The Ohio Association of Public School Employees AFSCME Local 4/Local 673 (OAPSE) had negotiated into its collective bargaining agreement with the school district (CBA) a provision calling for the one-time distribution of $8,000 to a bargaining unit of employees consisting of bus drivers and cafeteria workers. This compensation (funded by the taxpayers through the district) was to be distributed to the employees according to work they had performed outside of normal working hours. The problem with the CBA provision, however, was that the district tasked OAPSE with fairly distributing the money.

Teamsters chief asks White House not to intervene if UPS workers strike Teamsters spokespeople said last Friday that the hiring of nonunion workers is an affront to the collective bargaining process and makes negotiations more difficult.
Editorial: Biden’s favors to unions keep costing taxpayers
March 16, 2022 // Pitching the executive order as a cost saver is disingenuous, as collective bargaining inherently drives up costs. It’s the same faulty logic used to defend prevailing wage laws that force union-level pay and benefits on publicly funded construction projects.
