Spirit Airlines unions agree to pay cuts for flight attendants, pilots
November 19, 2025 // The Air Line Pilots Association said it has agreed to Spirit's plans to reduce hourly pay by 8% and slash its retirement account contributions by half from 16% to 8%. The amended collective bargaining agreement will last from the beginning of 2026 through the end of 2027. The airline agreed to incrementally restore the pilots' pay starting in August 2028 with a 4% raise and then another 4% in January 2029. Retirement contributions will return to 16% by July 2029.

The over $2.6 million in political donations made by the Teamsters’ PAC this election cycle have also skewed heavily to the left, with the vast majority of their funds going to Democrats and Democratic-aligned PACs like the Senate Majority PAC, the Democratic National Committee, the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee and the Democratic Governors Association, according to Federal Election Commission records.

Southwest Airlines pilots okay five-year contract, includes immediate 29% pay raise
January 24, 2024 // The Southwest Airlines Pilot's Association announced its members overwhelmingly approved a tentative deal with the airline, with 92.73 percent of voting members in favor. The agreement includes a 29.15 percent pay raise on the day of ratification. Pilots would get four percent raises in 2025, 2026 and 2027, with a 3.25 percent raise in 2028. The pilot's union says the deal also includes changes to scheduling, maternity and paternity leave, increases to retirement and more.

Some of the reasons why Breeze flight attendants said they wanted to unionize included issues with pay, a lack of hotel accommodations when away from bases, a changing set of workplace rules, and “disrespectful treatment from management.” “Breeze Flight Attendants are proud of their work as aviation’s first responders and they are ready to lock in a real voice at their growing airline,” AFA International President Sara Nelson said in a statement. “Flight Attendants are not wasting any time organizing for legal rights on the job and a secure future at Breeze with a union contract.
