Cargill meatpackers in Fort Morgan expected to take another vote on contract they rejected
August 14, 2026 // Workers have been locked out of the beef-processing plant for nearly 85 days but things got worse after union strike pay was reduced. After workers rejected a Cargill Meat Solutions contract last week, reality hit the more than 1,700 unemployed meatpackers who’ve been locked out of the Fort Morgan plant for nearly 85 days. Now, a worker-led effort to take another vote on a contract has received enough signatures for the union to consider it.
Bally’s Colorado Casino Workers Become State’s First to Unionize
August 14, 2026 // With more than 1.3 million members, the Teamsters are one of the oldest and largest organized labor groups in the U.S. Its gaming footprint is small relative to other industries, but it is growing as it now represents “nearly 6,000 members at casinos and casino hotels” across the country. Other gaming venues where staff are Teamsters include Wynn Resorts’ Encore Boston Harbor and the Hard Rock Casino Rockford in Illinois. Bally’s and the Teamster have established ties as well. In February, 66 bankers, front desk workers, and cashiers at Bally’s Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Biloxi, Miss. voted to join the Teamsters.
Cargill Lockout Continues: Teamsters Reject Settlement in Fort Morgan
August 4, 2026 // Union members voted Monday to reject the latest contract offer. Cargill’s Fort Morgan facility has not processed beef since April 23.

June 20, 2026 // Even with the hardship, workers remain strongly supportive of the union and the negotiation process. “Because the contract was a horrible contract for us,” Tanner said. “They just don't want to pay us what we want, I guess.” Several workers said they were growing impatient with the impasse and were starting to look for other jobs. But many are reluctant to give up on what they describe as their best local option for employment. “Cargill has always been one of the best-paying jobs around here for people that don't have a college degree,” Mendez said. “They have good opportunities, good insurance."
Union turns blind eye to “pervasive” sexual harassment
October 14, 2022 // Teamsters Local 455 in Colorado was accused of fostering a hostile work environment for allowing ‘pervasive’ sexual harassment. The union is charged with violating federal law for failing to take action against its business agent, despite being notified that he had sexually harassed and verbally assaulted female staff. Title VII of the Federal Civil Rights Act protects the union’s employees from harassment at work. It also requires Local 455 to respond to sexual harassment complaints by supervisors, between coworkers, or involving customers or clients. A union representative, however, has no legal duty to review or respond to sexual harassment claims by union members. Though, they can take on that duty in their own Codes of Conduct or collective bargaining agreements.
