April 21, 2026 // Hundreds of registered nurses and healthcare professionals at The George Washington University Hospital are backing a petition to remove District of Columbia Nurses Association (DCNA) union officials from power at the facility. GWU Hospital nurse Elizabeth Abraha, who is leading the effort among her colleagues, submitted a union decertification petition to the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) on April 15 with free legal aid from National Right to Work Foundation staff attorneys.

Allina Doctors Council strike approved, ‘historic’ rally planned
November 5, 2025 // Healthcare professionals with Allina formed a union in October 2023, and since June 2025 have been attempting to negotiate new contracts. The union says a rally on Nov. 5 will culminate outside of Allina’s headquarters in Minneapolis. Allina Health has previously said it is "disappointed Doctors Council SEIU-represented Primary Care and Urgent Care providers are deciding to engage in a strike instead of meaningful negotiations at the bargaining table."
Kaiser Permanente workers strike in Oregon and Washington, join nationwide picket lines
October 16, 2025 // According to Kaiser's officials, the alliance wants a 25% payroll increase, but Kaiser has instead put a 21.5% increase on the table. Officials say they've been planning for the strike for months and told KATU all of their facilities will remain open, and adjustments are being made accordingly. Kaiser says it's bringing on up to 7,600 nurses, clinicians, and other staff to work during the strike and says more than 1,000 of their employees have volunteered to be reassigned to work in locations impacted by the strike.
Allina healthcare workers unionize, forming possibly the largest private-sector union for clinicians
October 18, 2023 // Healthcare workers with the Allina Health System voted to unionize Friday in what is described as what is now the largest private-sector union for clinicians in the country. The union, represented by Doctors Council SEIU Local 10MD, includes about 550 physicians, nurse practitioners and physician assistants who work at Allina clinics. The company is based in Minneapolis but has clinics all across Minnesota and Wisconsin.
