Unions sue DoD over termination of collective bargaining agreements
July 6, 2026 // In April, lawmakers asked Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth about his decision to cancel nearly all collective bargaining agreements across the department, Hegseth said he “fundamentally believes the Department of War should not be subject to collective bargaining. Full stop.”
OMB memo requires agencies to track federal employees’ attendance
May 14, 2025 // The General Services Administration recommends that agencies capture data from employees when they swipe their ID badges at security checkpoints, or use data from their laptops or daily check-ins to approximate how many employees are working in federal buildings. The OMB memo gives agencies until May 19 to start collecting building occupancy data. That data includes a summary of daily occupancy totals for each day of the week and the average occupancy of each building based on a two-week average. OMB expects full implementation by July 4.
Expand Union Opportunities to Reach Employees, OPM Tells Agencies
April 16, 2022 // OPM has told agencies to expand the opportunities unions have to communicate with employees, building on earlier instructions to inform job candidates and newly hired employees information about union rights that come with a position, including having union representatives present at new employee orientation.
