    May 4, 2022 // Congressional Democrats have taken a renewed interest in resurrecting a failed Obama-era executive order, “Fair Pay and Safe Workplace (EO 13672),” also known as “Blacklisting.” The stated goal of the Blacklisting executive order, and subsequent regulations, was to promote efficiency in government procurement by ensuring federal agencies contract only with “responsible” contractors who comply with federal and state workplace laws.

All they may really want is for union representatives to leave them alone. Once enough workers sign cards, United Auto Workers will achieve a monopoly. That means that, with no election whatsoever, workers will find the union representing them. Even those who don’t want union representation will be stuck under the United Auto Workers’ contract.

Within the bill, however, are requirements for some federal grant or loan programs that private sector construction companies must accept card check union organizing in some cases and remain neutral to union organizing in others. During a union organizing campaign, card check and union neutrality agreements expose workers to intimidation tactics rather than using a secret ballot election.
