Amazon union victory at Staten Island warehouse upheld by federal labor board
January 12, 2023 // A federal labor agency on Wednesday certified an independent union’s landmark victory at Amazon ’s Staten Island warehouse and threw out a litany of objections filed by the e-retailer. In a filing Wednesday, Cornele Overstreet, a director of the NLRB’s Phoenix-based office, said he agreed with a federal labor official’s prior ruling that all of Amazon’s objections should be dismissed.
Amazon suspends at least 50 workers after fire protest
October 10, 2022 // Amazon has suspended at least 50 warehouse employees who refused to work their shifts following a trash compactor fire at one of its New York facilities, according to union organizers. The company suspended the workers, with pay, on Tuesday, a day after the fire disrupted operations at the Staten Island warehouse that voted to unionize earlier this year. Derrick Palmer, the vice president of the Amazon Labor Union, said day-shift workers were sent home with pay due to the fire, which began late afternoon Monday. But night-shift employees, who were just coming in for their shift were told to remain in a break area until management figured out the situation, he said.

Union Says Over 50 Amazon Warehouses Have Reached Out After NYC Vote
April 6, 2022 // Amazon has so many employees that Business Insider reported last year that one out of every 153 employed workers in the U.S. works for the company. According to Amazon's website, the company's fulfillment centers can employ more than 1,500 full-time employees, meaning that if all 50 warehouses were to unionize, about 75,000 workers would be affected.
