    October 17, 2025 // The workers, flanked by organizers from Teamsters Local 135, said they have been turned down on an alternate third-party observer, which would have permitted the Oct. 17 election to go forward without delay. “We’ve already had a vote,” said Zachary Holbrook, a dealer/supervisor. “92% of the majority voted for strike authorization.”

    Casino Workers At Caesars Southern Indiana Go On Strike

    April 16, 2025 // The work stoppage started after the property reopened. Flooding from the Ohio River temporarily closed the casino. Teamsters Local 89 officials and the property, which is owned by VICI Properties and operated by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, have not been able to agree to a contract during negotiations over the last few months. The union’s current contract expired a month ago.

    February 6, 2025 // UFCW Local 7 members voted by 96% last week to authorize the unfair labor practices strike. King Soopers, a chain owned by Kroger, with 121 stores in Colorado and Wyoming, has been negotiating a new contract since October. The current contract expired in January.

    Las Vegas hotel workers union ends 69-day strike

    January 24, 2025 // The Culinary Workers Union announced on the social media platform X that it secured a five-year deal for about 700 employees at Virgin Hotels near the Las Vegas Strip. In a joint statement, the union and casino said they were ready to move past their disagreements “for the benefit of all team members at the property” after the 69-day strike that began November 15.

    Seneca Niagara Resort & Casino Employees Push for Union Representation

    January 7, 2025 // In the last decade, a number of cases have reached courts across the country with similar concerns. Unsurprisingly, the courts have ruled that employees of Tribal casinos and resorts fall under the National Labor Relations Act, which means that they can join forces to be represented by unions. Now, as announced by the Niagara Gazette, workers at Seneca Niagara Resort and Casino are in talks with Teamsters Local 449. Discussions with the union date back to December. One former employee and organizer of the initiative, Vernon Lohan, said on the matter: “You’re not given a fair handshake over there.” The former employee also alleged that workers at Seneca Niagara Resort and Casino may be terminated in cases that may only require a warning.
