Minnesota Historical Society employees rally as contract talks continue
December 19, 2022 // Employees at the Minnesota Historical Society rallied Saturday in St. Paul as negotiations continue for an initial union contract. The workers formed AFSCME Local 3173 last year, but have yet to reach an agreement with the MNHS. Some at the rally said they voted to join the union because they were frustrated with attempts to get management to listen to concerns.

I was reading some research through the Pew Research Center that was talking about how millennials and Gen Z, I consider myself a millennial at work, I'm one of the oldest people my store just turned 26 and I work with a lot of people who are still in college, there's a lot of natural generational agreement on social issues. with a lot of non-white workers and queer workers. I think we're living in a moment where we can see our rights and the past wins that past generations have made eroding in real time. Roe v. Wade is one. I know there was a ruling in Alabama that allowed for separation to disenfranchise Black voters and we're really seeing what can happen if we don't stick our necks out and you know, bargain for our rights. February 14, 2022 // Educators in both St. Paul and Minneapolis will vote this coming week whether to authorize a strike. Teachers say the offers from their districts make them feel undervalued after two years of pandemic teaching. They want to see more staff and smaller class sizes, along with fair and honest wages.
St. Paul: Ramsey County will award $500 to $1K bonuses as part of deal with labor unions
February 8, 2022 // Workers who have been "required to work on-site and provide direct in-person services/care" will receive $1,000 bonuses, while workers who worked remotely will get $500. The county is tapping some of its $108 million in federal aid as part of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to cover the bonuses.
