Boilermakers sue ex-president, demand he repay union nearly $500,000 he ‘misused’
August 3, 2025 // The Kansas City-based International Brotherhood of Boilermakers is suing the president it ousted two years ago, demanding that Newton Jones pay back nearly $500,000 of union money it says he misused. Filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Missouri, the lawsuit says Jones has ignored the union’s order to reimburse the money he’s accused of taking.

"So the biggest thing was scheduling. Our hours have been cut by corporate for no apparent reason; week to week was inconsistent with regard to hours that we were getting because most of our employees are hourly. It really affected everyone's paychecks. We really didn't have any other reasoning as to why we were experiencing," Julian previously said.

New Haven becomes first city in Conn. to recognize tenant unions
September 27, 2022 // New Haven Mayor Justin Elicker signed an ordinance Tuesday afternoon officially recognizing tenant unions. This ordinance means unions can work with the city’s fair rent commission to investigate things such as proposed rent increases and unacceptable living conditions. This ordinance applies to properties with at least 10 rental units. It also extends to at least 10,000 housing units across the city.
