    Corewell Health Niles nurses vote against joining Teamsters union

    March 11, 2026 // According to results posted by the National Labor Relations Board, 82 nurses voted against joining the Teamsters union while 47 voted in favor. A total of 152 employees were eligible to vote in the Feb. 26 election.

    UPS offers buyout to union drivers, drawing ire from Teamsters

But according to the Teamsters union -- which represents 340,000 UPS (NYSE:UPS) drivers -- the “illegal” plan violates the contract between UPS and the Teamsters signed in August 2023, and would be less than what rank-and-file Teamsters now earn and could continue to make over the life of the current agreement.

Now, the group will start negotiating its first official contract. Nicole Williams, chair of the human services department, said she’s hoping the union will bring more structure and clarity. “We have policies, but we need more policies. There's structure, but we need more structure,” Williams told WYPR.

Foley added faculty at Maryland community colleges are already able to organize unions. Foley, a former vice president of the Communications Workers of America, said despite perceptions, unions are not just for blue collar workers.

    REI Greensboro, NC, workers vote to unionize

    February 3, 2025 // Greensboro workers began the process after REI reduced the workforce by 275 company wide in October 2023. Most of the cuts were "leads," who are the most experienced in the chain, with the Greensboro store losing two. According to the RWDSU, Greensboro joins 10 others fighting for fair pay, guaranteed hours, a path to full-time status, and transfer opportunities within REI. The vote to unionize was conducted Friday by the National Labor Relations Board.
