Major state employee union approves new contract after bitter negotiations
August 12, 2025 // After one of the most bitter contract campaigns in recent memory, members of the union representing some 18,000 state employees approved a two-year contract that largely maintains the status quo with modest pay increases. Although voting, dues-paying members supported ratifying the contract by a wide margin — 6,857 to 1,813 — the Minnesota Association of Professional Employees said the 79% approval was the lowest since the union went on strike in 2001.

Minnesota Teamsters unanimously vote to authorize a strike
July 31, 2025 // Workers at Sysco Minnesota, a food delivery service company based in Blaine, have unanimously voted in favor to authorize a strike if their union finds it necessary. More than 230 drivers and warehouse workers, represented by Teamsters Local 120, say they want higher pay, stronger benefits, and better working conditions.
Boeing’s contract offer rejected by union members
July 29, 2025 // Union members who assemble Boeing's (BA.N), opens new tab fighter jets in the St. Louis area have "overwhelmingly voted" to reject the company's contract offer on Sunday, with the company now preparing for an imminent strike. Boeing's proposal, which was sent on Tuesday to more than 3,200 members of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) District 837, included a 20% general wage increase over four years and a $5,000 ratification bonus, as well as more vacation time and sick leave.

24-year-old driver who fatally struck UAW picketer sentenced to years in prison
July 27, 2025 // The driver who struck and killed a United Auto Workers picketer in Sept. 2024 has been sentenced to years in prison, documents obtained by News 10 confirm. Jayden Chase, 24, pleaded no contest in May to hitting multiple UAW picketers with his vehicle in September, killing 24-year-old Seth Webb and injuring numerous others.
