April 12, 2026 // The iPhone maker described the decision as "difficult", citing the departure of several retailers and worsening conditions at the Towson Town Center mall as key reasons for the closure. Apple said Towson employees will be eligible to apply for open roles at the company. Union: Boeing can end strike by spending $8M more over 4 years
November 3, 2025 // IAM said its counteroffer, released Oct. 27, would add $115.7 million in costs to Boeing over four years, or just $8 million more than the $107.7 million in added costs from the first four years of Boeing's five-year contract offer. “Alternatively, on an annual basis, our counteroffer adds costs of $28.9 million per year ($115.7M/4 years). The company’s offer adds costs of $25.9 million per year ($129.3M/5 years),” the union told the Business Journal.

October 30, 2025 // And the head of Boeing Defense, Space & Security (BDS) said the company's next step is to accelerate efforts to hire permanent replacement workers, "which will likely result in some striking employees being displaced." Steve Parker, president and CEO of BDS, said in a message to employees Tuesday afternoon: "We are also expanding the use of third-party support for certain jobs and assessing opportunities to streamline factory operations. And we’re welcoming back teammates who are crossing the picket line as we continue to hear from more teammates who tell us they are ready to come back to work."

October 28, 2025 // “To fund the increases in this offer, we had to make trade-offs,” including reduced hourly wage increases tied to attendance and certain shift work, Boeing Vice President Dan Gillian said in a message to workers on Thursday. IAM leaders have pressed the planemaker for higher retirement plan contributions and a ratification bonus closer to the $12,000 that Boeing gave to union members on strike last year in the company’s commercial airplane division in the Pacific Northwest.

Workers in an organized factory are free to return to their stations and get back to work, leaving everyone else on the picket line to fight for a contract that would eventually apply to everyone.
Boeing St. Louis to train permanent replacements as machinists strike enters third month
October 6, 2025 // The company announced Sept. 4 that it was starting the process to hire permanent replacement workers for manufacturing jobs to replace union members who have been on strike at the three defense plants in the St. Louis area for 60 days. The International Association of Machinists Union District 837 has about 3,200 members who manufacture munitions, assemble fighter jets and other aircrafts and make composite parts for the Boeing 777X commercial aircraft.

IAM union modifies offer to Boeing after meeting with mediator
October 3, 2025 // In response to Boeing’s offers, IAM 837 members created their own proposed offer, featuring increased 401k contributions and improved raises for top of scale members, but was rejected by the company. Boeing and the union returned to the bargaining table on Monday with the inclusion of a federal mediator to help provide a new avenue to resolve the ongoing dispute. On Tuesday, the union modified its proposed offer to the company.

When you go on strike, it’s not just about the workers and their families. It’s about the entire community. The mom-and-pop shops. The little restaurants. Our guys stop at the store every day, get a cup of coffee, and maybe get a bite to eat. It’s having a negative impact on those communities.
