    Cannabis workers strike to form union in Ann Arbor

    September 4, 2025 // UFCW says an Exclusive Brands worker who was recently fired had been supporting the unionization effort and also claims the company tried to block a union election. UFCW filed a complaint with the state cannabis agency and an unfair labor practice charge with the National Labor Relations Board in late August. An Exclusive Brands spokesperson declined to comment to Axios. The Livonia-based retailer and grower has seven dispensaries in Michigan.

    June 17, 2025 // "Boston is a union town, and it's time to bring all Fenway workers' wages up to standard," said Carlos Aramayo, president of UNITE HERE Local 26, which represents the Fenway workers. "Local 26 hotel workers fought for, and won, $10-an-hour raises last year, and Local 26 university dining workers will be making a minimum of $30 an hour by 2028. As the summer of 2023 approached, workers at the popular wood-fired Neapolitan pizza shop filed for a union election through the National Labor Relations Board with the support of Workers United, a national labor union. In May 2023, Barboncino Workers United asked the restaurant’s owners to recognize the union, which would have prevented the need for an NLRB election. When the deadline for recognition passed, the employees moved forward and voted unanimously to unionize in July 2023.

    Amazon warehouse workers hold vote to unionize in North Carolina

    February 12, 2025 // The company was also accused of coercion and being selective in its enforcement of company rules, according to a letter from CAUSE. Among the things organizers are asking for are consistent scheduling, one-hour paid lunch and higher wages. Amazon has a history of rejecting union actions, arguing that internal company changes are more beneficial for its workers.

    Starbucks baristas to return to work after five-day strike

    December 27, 2024 // The strike shut down more than 300 locations, including some in the Los Angeles area, after more than 5,000 Starbucks workers walked out last Tuesday. The union representing the baristas, called Starbucks Workers United says it is ready to return to the bargaining table. Talks with the company had stalled over pay, staffing and scheduling.

    Strand employees go on strike during busy holiday season for bookstore

Many of the workers out on the picket line said that even though the holiday season is one of the store's busiest times, many of its employees are struggling to live in New York on what they make.
