This does not mean that the teachers are on strike yet, but representatives said on Monday that they’re prepared to walk out if contract negotiations don’t reach a conclusion.

November 4, 2025 // The decision by top Whitehall city officials to block incoming emails from the local FOP union — now the subject of a federal lawsuit — was a First Amendment violation and the block should be lifted, the city's attorney warned during a Whitehall City Council meeting in September. The Fraternal Order of Police Capital City Lodge No. 9 filed a lawsuit Oct. 31 in U.S. District Court in Columbus against the city of Whitehall over the decision — the latest development in a long-running feud between top Whitehall officials and the local police union.

If they’re ready to come back, we’re ready to talk," corporate spokesperson Jaci Anderson said in a statement to USA TODAY. "Any agreement needs to reflect the reality that Starbucks already offers the best job in retail including more than $30 an hour on average in pay and benefits for hourly partners," Anderson said. "We’re investing over $500 million to put more partners in stores during busy times. The facts show people like working at Starbucks. Partner engagement is up, turnover is nearly half the industry average, and we get more than 1 million job applications a year.”

Republic Services and Teamsters reach 5-year agreement in Boston
September 25, 2025 // After the Boston-area strike began, other Teamsters locals across the country either went on strike for their own contracts or halted work in solidarity. At the peak of the action in mid-July, more than 2,000 Republic Services workers represented by Teamsters were off the job. Since then, three other local chapters have reached agreements with Republic Services and returned to work. Teamsters Local 728, which represents 32 Republic Services employees in Cumming, Georgia, remains on strike over alleged unfair labor practices, according to a union official. Republic workers represented by the local in Columbus, Ohio, walked out last week in solidarity with members already on strike.
