November 29, 2025 // DENVER — “¡Sí, se puede! ¡Sí, se puede!” More than 50 people chanted the phrase — which means “yes, it can be done” in Spanish — outside the Denver nonprofit Re:Vision Tuesday morning. The crowd gathered in the cold to listen to current and former Re:Vision employees and union organizers speak about the leadership of Re:Vision’s executive director Mariana del Hierro. Re:Vision is a food equity nonprofit in Westwood, a predominantly Latino and immigrant community.
Union representing 25,000 nurses reaches deal with UC, averts planned strike
November 19, 2025 // Originally, AFSCME had planned to go on strike with University Professional and Technical Employees CWA Local 9119, or UPTE-CWA 9119, a union representing about 21,000 professional and technical UC employees, in an attempt to secure higher wages. CNA planned to participate in a sympathy strike to show solidarity with other unions and increase pressure on the UC system. However, UPTE also recently reached a tentative agreement with the UC, leaving AFSCME to strike alone. The UC system also released a statement praising the agreement, claiming that it yields “meaningful pay and benefit increases for more than 24,000 UC nurses.”

October 27, 2025 // Starbucks, for its part, says it is willing to bargain with the union, which the company says represents about 9,500 of its "partners," or employees. "Workers United only represents around 4% of our partners but chose to walk away from the bargaining table. If they’re ready to come back, we’re ready to talk," corporate spokesperson Jaci Anderson said in a statement to USA TODAY. "Any agreement needs to reflect the reality that Starbucks already offers the best job in retail including more than $30 an hour on average in pay and benefits for hourly partners," Anderson said. "We’re investing over $500 million to put more partners in stores during busy times. The facts show people like working at Starbucks. Partner engagement is up, turnover is nearly half the industry average, and we get more than 1 million job applications a year.”

Workers at Moore Mechanical in Grand Rapids say a majority want to form a union, but company leaders have been trying to keep that from happening.

All 13 of the city’s unions protested together Tuesday, criticizing Mayor Paul Young and the city council for trying to invalidate their collective bargaining agreements.
San Francisco courtroom clerks threaten to strike as early as next week
October 22, 2025 // The clerks, represented by Service Employees International Union, Local 1021, voted in early October by 98% to authorize a strike. Union organizers say a strike is “imminent,” and could happen as soon as next week.
Kaiser Permanente workers strike in Oregon and Washington, join nationwide picket lines
October 16, 2025 // According to Kaiser's officials, the alliance wants a 25% payroll increase, but Kaiser has instead put a 21.5% increase on the table. Officials say they've been planning for the strike for months and told KATU all of their facilities will remain open, and adjustments are being made accordingly. Kaiser says it's bringing on up to 7,600 nurses, clinicians, and other staff to work during the strike and says more than 1,000 of their employees have volunteered to be reassigned to work in locations impacted by the strike.
Zohran Mamdani joins Starbucks workers picketing for better pay in NYC
October 2, 2025 // Over a dozen Starbucks workers raised their voices and picketed outside a store in Lower Manhattan on Wednesday morning. It comes as New York City officials said they are aware of dozens of Starbucks that are closing as part of a $1 billion restructuring plan that will shutter more than 400 stores nationwide. The baristas were joined by mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani as they highlighted their demands for fair contracts.
