How Today’s Young Workers Are Creating a New Opportunity for Unions

June 2, 2025 // A new survey from LaborStrong found that 77% of workers aged 18-28 believe union workplaces are better than non-union ones. More than half say unions should be tackling urgent issues like AI and automation this year — not sometime in the future. And 56% of Gen Z workers are actively seeking out unionized workplaces when considering where to work. This is not nostalgia for the labor battles of the past. It's a new generation's urgent search for collective strength in a world that feels increasingly unstable.

SAG-AFTRA Strike Continues: Union Sounds Alarm on AI Exploitation

March 17, 2025 // One key concern is that companies could use past recordings to generate AI performances without consent. Actors also fear losing control over their digital likenesses and demand fair pay across multiple projects. Without stricter regulations, performers risk being replaced by AI entirely. The industry's proposal includes wage increases and AI usage terms, but SAG-AFTRA argues they don't go far enough. If accepted as is, the deal could allow studios to replicate an actor's voice indefinitely – without further payment. Worse still, companies may not even be required to inform performers when their AI-generated voice is being used. This could lead to a future where human performances are sidelined, making traditional acting careers unsustainable.

SEIU Researchers Admit $20 Wage Law Caused Fast Food Job Losses

In an attempt to cover up these consequences, unions have supported biased researchers who are supportive of $20.”

Unions Reprogram NYS To Do Less With More

December 28, 2024 // And for good reason: these “protections” will bring slower-than-appropriate service delivery at higher-than-necessary costs, slamming the brakes on a multi-generation trend toward more efficiency, both across the economy and in state agencies themselves. Hochul in her approval message indicated she wants the Legislature to make technical changes to the bill but overall played to the unions’ fear-mongering:
