Collective bargaining agreement between Bath Iron Works and union employees to include 17% wage increase
August 24, 2026 // According to IAM Local S6, the new contract also increases shift premiums to $2.50 per hour, locks in healthcare costs during the contract, improves 401(k) contributions, adds safeguards for outsourcing, provides more flexibility for time off, protections with new technology including AI, and more protections for bargaining-unit work. The union says members had to make no concessions for the agreement. Bath Iron Works says that there is some training that will go into effect next week to implement the contract. Charles Krugh, President of General Dynamics Bath Iron Works saying in a statement “This historic contract is the result of constructive, good-faith negotiations. It not only provides significant wage increases, it also provides additional flexibility and long-term stability for both our employees and the company. It will help us continue the production momentum we have gained in our vital work of building ships for the U.S. Navy."
DOL gets flexible on overtime
May 18, 2026 // The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) requires that workers be paid time-and-a-half once a work week exceeds 40 hours. However, employers may exempt workers classified as managerial who meet a salary threshold. In 2023, The Biden administration raised the income threshold from $35,500 to $44,000, and planned to increase it again to $59,000 annually by 2025. This was intended to expand the number of people receiving overtime. The administration’s union allies and labor-sympathetic lawmakers have long argued that companies abuse the exception by designating regular employees as managerial to get out of having to pay them overtime. Raising the threshold was meant to prevent this. This one-size-fits-all approach did not necessarily benefit all workers.
UAW workers reach tentative deal with GE Aerospace at Ohio, Kentucky plants
September 15, 2025 // The tentative agreement covers a five-year term and secures strong job security protections for both Erlanger and Evendale locations, including minimum headcount and new work, the statement said. On Friday, the UAW said in an X post that members will vote on ratification on September 19. Until then, all picket lines will continue.

A union leader stated that Boeing and it’s workers disagree on several issues including wages, health care, retirement, and time off. Boeing stated that it will continue to bargain with the union in good faith, and that they’re confident that a deal can be reached.
Unionized Planned Parenthood workers approve new contract
July 10, 2024 // Hundreds of unionized Planned Parenthood workers in San Diego, Imperial and Riverside counties last week voted to approve a new contract that would apply to nurses, medical assistants, patient advocates and other clinic staff. The agreement would raise wages by 15% over three years, increase the minimum wage to $23 per hour and improve benefits, per the union. It's the first union contract for any Planned Parenthood workers in California, the group says.
