While NAEP scores hit 20-year lows, teachers’ unions were debating ethical veganism

July 16, 2026 // Recognizing ethical veganism as a protected philosophical belief; glyphosate has no place on student food and beverages; opposing merging US military operations, intelligence, and/or defense technology with those of any foreign military; comprehensive immigration reform; banning the use of AI in the decision-making process for the use of nuclear weapons; investigating fires for evidence of microwave energy attacks through the use of “direct energy weapons”; prohibiting weather modification to be injected into the stratosphere; calling for the impeachment of Trump before the November election, at a campaign cost of $5.2 million; and ending the war in Iran. For an entity that cloaks itself in sanctimony for defending the rights of teachers, it seems very much that the welfare of average union members might not be the C-suite’s top priority.

Gavin Newsom’s race to block a billionaire tax

June 13, 2026 // The growing coalition is tightening pressure on SEIU-UHW President Dave Regan, whose wealth-tax crusade has roiled California politics for months, to pull the measure. The message to Regan is blunt: Back down now, or risk going into a costly ballot fight increasingly alone. “Dave Regan is seeing very plainly what he’ll be up against if he goes through with this,” said a consultant working to defeat the measure who was granted anonymity to discuss sensitive dynamics. The union downplayed the mounting pushback, arguing it was not representative of the groups’ members.

Workers at Planned Parenthood’s largest affiliate are unionizing, citing Trump cuts

May 13, 2026 // Sotoa said union representation would secure workers' voices in decisions over staffing and resources under threat by the cuts. Opinion Editorial Board ‘Ha! She has been supporting the thing she despises this entire time.’

May 4, 2026 // Adding to their contempt for Carter, the union continued to fight her in court. Finally, last week, the case came to a close when Carter received almost $950,000 in damages from Southwest and the TWU. Carter was only able to afford this lawsuit because of pro bono representation by the National Right to Work Legal Defense Foundation. How many other Southwest flight attendants have had their money used for political activism they oppose by a union that hates their beliefs?

Watchdog report exposes teachers union ‘political machine’ funneling more than $1 billion to liberal causes

April 27, 2026 // According to research from Defending Education, national teachers unions alone have directed roughly $669 million toward left-wing political groups, advocacy organizations and campaigns since 2015. When state and local affiliates are included, that figure balloons to more than $1 billion in total political spending. The reports track spending from the two largest unions, the National Education Association (NEA) and the American Federation of Teachers (AFT), as well as their state-level affiliates, using federal filings and campaign finance records.

The local Planned Parenthood spent $15,570 on union-busting last year

May 18, 2025 // The latest filing comes amid ongoing complaints of poor working conditions and low pay, a recent merger with the only other non-unionized Planned Parenthood affiliate in Washington and continuing unionization efforts from employees.

Lefty groups behind ‘grassroots’ anti-Trump protests in US propped up by billionaires and dark-money network

May 7, 2025 // Dozens of lefty groups behind the country’s supposedly “grassroots” May Day protests have been largely bankrolled by two billionaires and a dark-money network of progressive nonprofits. More than $500 million from Swiss billionaire Hansjorg Wyss’ organizations, hedge-fund tycoon George Soros’ Open Society Foundations and the dark-money Arabella network flowed to the progressive groups between fiscal years 2016 and 2023, according to an analysis shared with The Post. The funding wasn’t intended for the May Day protests per se, but it has been propping up many of the self-styled “grassroots” progressive activist groups over time.

Planned Parenthood of Greater Ohio workers organize unions

January 26, 2025 // Oney said unionization was always the goal, but safety and funding concerns have become part of the conversation with the start of a second Trump administration. "I know in the conversations we've had, like what it's going to look like in the future for Planned Parenthood when it comes to funding and things like that and making sure that all of us have things in place to protect us if that were to be a problem down the line," Oney said. Oney said about 20 other Planned Parenthood affiliates have unionized in the past few years.

Unionized Planned Parenthood workers approve new contract

July 10, 2024 // Hundreds of unionized Planned Parenthood workers in San Diego, Imperial and Riverside counties last week voted to approve a new contract that would apply to nurses, medical assistants, patient advocates and other clinic staff. The agreement would raise wages by 15% over three years, increase the minimum wage to $23 per hour and improve benefits, per the union. It's the first union contract for any Planned Parenthood workers in California, the group says.
