If workers walk off the job, enhanced strike benefits were approved by the union, including $1,000 a week, which reportedly exceeds the weekly pay of some workers across the university system.

    Delta Air is Battling a Spike in Flight Attendants Calling Out Sick And It Might Spur Yet Another Unionization Attempt

    March 12, 2025 // So far, at least, Delta hasn’t seen any significant operational disruption from the rise in flight attendants failing to show up for work, but the trend has clearly got the airline spooked and managers are taking action to protect the carrier’s schedule. Over recent weeks, flight attendants at the Atlanta-based airline have received emails urging them to get back to work while also warning that measures would have to be implemented to turn the situation around if sick rates didn’t improve.

    The strike at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is now the longest in the nation. And it’s not over.

Akita named Bella, had been a little too excited by another, smaller dog in the crowd. “This has been elongated to this point solely because of the people inside,” he said. “In a labor battle, there’s strikers and there’s scabs. There’s two sides to a picket line.” As the strike has gone on, tensions between both sides have grown, and it’s unclear how or when the strike will end. On Nov. 13, the first negotiations between the Post-Gazette’s lawyers and the union in over a year ended after Tanner threw a chair at the wall of a conference room in the Omni William Penn Hotel.

    2024 strikes predicted to be less disruptive; but layoffs and unionization continue

    UAW and Stellantis reach tentative contract deal as union adds strike at Tennessee GM factory

    October 29, 2023 // Under the deal, the union said it saved jobs in Belvidere as well at an engine plant in Trenton, Michigan, and a machining factory in Toledo, Ohio. “We’ve done the impossible. We have moved mountains. We have reopened an assembly plant that was closed,” Fain said. The deal includes a commitment by Stellantis to build a new midsize truck at its factory in Belvidere, Illinois, that was slated to be closed. About 1,200 workers will be hired back, plus another 1,000 workers will be added for a new electric vehicle battery plant, the union said. “We're bringing back both combustion vehicles and electric vehicle jobs to Belvidere,” Fain said.

    Say it again, Supremes: Forced union dues in government are illegal

    October 27, 2023 // Alaska’s largest public sector union fought the new system in court. In May, the Alaska Supreme Court ruled for the union and ordered the state to revert to the old system. Now the US Supreme Court is being urged to weigh in. If the Alaska Supreme Court decision stands, Janus will have been neutered. So the state of Alaska, 11 other states, and eight public policy institutes are saying to the justices, in effect: “You made your decision. Now enforce it.” Public sector workers who choose to support a union must be free to do so. Employees who choose not to must be equally free. The Supreme Court said as much five years ago, but it needs to say so again.
